Amazon Prime Day 2017 Is Almost Here!
Amazon Prime Day 2017 is July 11th. The event kicks off though, at at 9 pm Eastern on July 10th and runs until 3 am Eastern on July 12th. That’s 30 hours of deals!
If you’re not aware of this day already then you need to be! This is the day Amazon slashes prices site wide on a huge number of items but there is a caveat. And that caveat is that you need to be a Prime member.
If you’re not already a Prime member then don’t delay. Sign up now! Prime is worth it without this deal day. And it is a biggie! Think Black Friday but only for Prime members and you get some idea of the scale.
As usual, Amazon has not released exact details of what’s going on sale, but in previous years there’s been pretty much something for everyone. According to Amazon there will be new deals every five minutes.
Lightning Deals
As with Black Friday this is where you want to be! Whatever you’re interested in this is the main place where the deals will show up.
Be warned though! It is not unusual for Amazon to offer some really deep discounts on major items such as TV’s. Think doorbusters and you will be on the right lines. As with a physical store there will be a lot of competition and the very best deals will go fast.
If you are in the market for something like a 55″ TV then you need to be ready. Knowing in advance what you’re prepared to spend is the way to go and if you see a deal appear press that button fast! If you hesitate you will almost certainly lose out. There are literally millions taking part.
Apart from the major items like televisions there will also be thousands of other items. These can still sell out fast but usually not as fast as the big boys. Even so, it is best not to think about it too long.
Incidentally, if an item you want sells out before you can buy, check to see if the listing says”Join Waitlist.” If it does it’s worth a shot. There is no guarantee of course, but I have been lucky and still got an item I wanted more times than not in past years.
Exclusive Alexa Voice Deals
For those Prime members with an Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Tap, Echo Show, or Fire TV and tablets etc., Amazon Prime Day is your chance to get a deal that even other Prime members can’t get. You can read more about Alexa voice deals here.
Just like last year, Amazon is offering voice shoppers the opportunity to get a deal denied to others. Although you can look online to see what Alexa’s deals are you will have to order through your device to actually get it.
I doubt you will see big ticket items appear but the discounts for what is there are usually very good. If you’ve never ordered through Alexa before it can be a little daunting the first time. But it’s not as scary as you think to order by voice and it does get easier!
I’ve bought quite a few items through Alexa in the last year and although they were relatively small items the discount was exceedingly good. If you do have an Alexa device then don’t forget to check out her deals.

Is Amazon Prime Day worth it? Yes! There have always been some great deals in the past and I don’t expect this year to be any different.
